The opening race of the year of the Nurburgring Langstreke Series championship was cancelled after only 1 lap of qualifying. The race that traditionally takes place at the end of March each year, enjoyed cool but sunny conditions on the Friday, however the forecast snow came after only 1 lap of qualifying, red flagging the session and then due to the snow on the grass next to the circuit, cancelled the days event.
Defending NLS SP9 PRO Champion David Pittard would line up with GT3 debutant Ben Tuck for the scheduled 4hour race and after a successful days testing in great conditions on the Friday with both drivers racking up many laps and conducting a Yokohama tyre test, they were both left frustrated with no race action on the Saturday.
“It was a shame to get so close and for Ben to have come so far from the UK, and we didn't get to race. Friday was a great day of testing to get back into the GT3 car on the Nordschelife and get back upto speed which didn't take long at all. We worked through our test program with a new tyre to try from Yokohama, and I was actually looking forward to some wet condition racing after the progress we had made with the wet set up at last years N24hrs. I agree with the decision though as the snow on the side of the track would have been lethal and taken far too long to melt. Roll on NLS3 when I'll be back at the Nordschleife”
