Masters Historic Jerez

With the modern season now finished, the historic racing season finishes by chasing the sun in southern Europe with a double header race event in Jerez (Spain) and Portimao (Portugal).

The first weekend at Jerez was for the Elan where big improvements were made for car owner Wilson as he gets back into Historic racing and saw him setting competitive and consistent times, always improving throughout the weekend.

Wilson started the Elan P2 in the 90min race and after dropping back initially, held onto the front group while pulling away from the group behind, and with the help of a few safety cars kept the leaders in sight before handing over to David to finish the race. David set about closing down the 15+sec gap to the leader, the sister Wolfe Elan driving by Andrew Haddon, and after a great fight passed for the lead with less than 12mins remaining in the race. However after leading for less than a lap Andrew & David couldn’t hold off the power of the TVR and settled for P2 & P3 overall while winning the under 2litre class.

“Jerez was a great track for the Elan, tight and twisty and kept us right in contention with the bigger engined cars over the lap and the race. Graham drove well to improve every session and keep the car in contention at the start of the race which set up the overall and class result we achieved. Looking forward to the rollercoaster that is Portimao next weekend as well! Again, big thanks to GW for having me along”
